The Sakhr CAT Translator is a computer-aided translation system, supporting bidirectional bilingual translation between English and Arabic. It is fully integratable with Microsoft Word. The CAT Translator program also supports translation from English or Arabic to any single-byte target language
but with fewer features available.

The Sakhr system is the first to apply Natural Language Processing
(NLP) technologies to both Arabic and English as source languages.
Sakhr CAT Translator has built in many of proprietary linguistic engines. These engines are crucial for processing highly inflectional languages
such as Arabic; it also achieves much better analysis and matching results of English when compared to a string-based counterpart.

Translator productivity and consistency are enhanced throughout
translation work by avoiding repetition of identical or similar tasks.
The CAT program achieves this by automatic building of translation
memories that store translations on-line and provide users with
translation proposals, via the fuzzy/identical matcher, while working
on any given text.

The program comes with a default dictionary which is a bilingual
(Arabic/English) general domain dictionary. It fully utilizes all
mechanisms of linguistic processing such as morphological analysis,
part-of-speech disambiguation, idiomatic expression detection and
others. It also provides a linguistic shell that performs verb tense and
noun-number transformations of both Arabic and English words.

The CAT Translator has a special editor for translating Web pages.
The Web CAT automatically extracts all translatable texts from the
HTML file, segments them into units and displays the text along
with its segmented units in an easy-to-use, multi-window interface.
Then Web CAT automatically replaces translated units in their
original locations, preserving their original formats, thereby
preventing the user from overwriting the HTML tags. Users can
preview both original and translated pages using an Arabic browser.
